Josef Originals. The first pieces were made in Muriel's home, actually her garage in California. These pieces have labels that say Josef Originals California. These pieces usually have gold applied and rhinestones and small flowers. Crazing under the glaze is associated with these pieces and is acceptable in a California piece. This business started sometime after the war, late 1940s and ten years later the figurines werebeing made in Japan. So the early pieces are the California pieces. These are some of the best California Pottery figurines available and what collectibles they have become. I am always interested in obtaining any of the works by Muriel Josef George. |
